I drive trucks so I have tried every map program in the App Store and this is by far the best one for people who travel everyday! It has all the information on the front screen that I need to see at a glance I use it on my iPad pro!

To the other reviewer: Live Traffic was always a paid add-on; it was never free. NAVIGON is the only GPS app I use!! I have used it since the iPhone 3GS and it still runs beautifully on my iPhone 6s! After trying countless other GPS apps, NAVIGON is still by far my favorite.
Dec2015 - any sales they ever had like the last 30% off sale, never worked. Cant find a direct way to contact them, so here we are. Paid full rice for options. Dropped stars as a result. Nov2011 Update: Fine so far... Maps are still free at their release pace. May not be quarterly but who cares. All the gps units I ever had, not all areas change that much to care. So stop whining. Sheesh. I like the idea I can select only maps I need. Havent had time to try it on the road, but I expect not too much difference. Well see... March 2nd update: Other than mentioned below, I sprung for Traffic. If there is one, there is no overall view of traffic. You have to select a traffic notice from a list. Id rather see it on the main map like other apps. This causes too much switching around the app. Also, POIs are not up to date or complete. Cant find local stores for example even with Google. Compared to the features of GPS Drive, its features are lacking as well as navigating through the program. This is where Drive outshines all gps programs. Im down grading to 4 stars till improvememts can be made. ...so far. Took it for a ride today and it was pretty much spot on... Only complaint so far is like others mentioned. It doesnt tell you what side it is on till you are right in front of it. Be much better if there was a 500ft buffer so youre not taking your eyes off road too much. Works great in our 2011 Cruze via adapter. All plays through radio sound system just fine using our iphone 4... Also got the terrain upgrade. No high excitement levels there... Should be free. Havent paid for traffic yet.
I have always enjoyed this App. It took us across the country and back with no issues. After the latest update it is no longer trustworthy. Drove from Wausau to Minneapolis. Five times it told me to exit I-94 and re-enter for NO reason. Other bad directions as well.
I purchased this APP several years ago for US and Western European travel. At that time it was accurate and worked ver well. However, Ive found the last three updates to be ridiculous and frustrating. A specific trip, that Ive take multiple times, to Port St Joe, FL should take 7 hours with moderate traffic. This APP gives me three route choices ranging from about 9 hours to 7 hrs and 45 minutes and only one of them makes moderate sense. Why would I drive to Jacksonville, FL to get to Port ST Joe, FL. My settings are kept simple so the route should not be a problem to configure. Im about to stop using this bugger though unless some logic be corrected.
Description is North America and Mexico Is part of North America and not included in this version extremely upset due to me traveling as downloading
Navigon is the best navigation app in my opinion. I have had it since it was released as v 1.0 and still feel it is the best. Two negatives about this app: 1> There is no user guide or user manual offered for this app. Navigon claims this is because it is so intuitive. Well, for basic navigation purposes, yes, it is intuitive. However, for many of the advanced features of this app, it is NOT intuitive (the little symbol on the bottom of the active nav screen is not explained; there is no explanation about the “warning!” alerts [dangerous curve coming up] and other are well kept secrets). This is at least the second version of the app offering interface with the Apple Watch, and it remains a complete fail. It will notify the user of the first two or three turns via the watch, and then it disappears from the watch face. Using the Navigon help channel (via Facebook
Why cant you QA before releasing an app. The Watch interface absolutely does not work. If you cant write and app for the watch that works, give me a call. Seriously folks this was the best of the best, although with each and every update it keeps getting worse and worse. I still have some faith although going south quickly.
I have used this app for traveling since getting my first iPhone...the 4. I gave away my high end Nuvi GPS Unit. Recent changes, including ALWAYS starting w map manager makes it VERY cumbersome. Minos looking for an alternative GPS app with downloadable maps.
didnt like it last summer but it has really grown on me, now its the first choice navigation app on my phone. its not the least expensive, buts its worth it to me.
This has been very useful when there’s no cheap cellular data, such as in wilderness areas or when I travel to Canada. I also like the display of local speed limits. The map update process does need to be fixed. The start/stop update etc process was weird years ago, but now it’s absurd. This needs to be a lot smarter. For a time the app insisted on a cellular connection to launch. I sure hope that’s fixed, it destroys the entire value proposition.
This app has consistently worked perfectly navigating me to my destinations. Never had a problem with the app. I love the glympse integration. Its nice to be able to let people waiting for you know when you will arrive.
With the latest update, I havent noticed any routing quirks yet, within the areas that I travel for work. But, I inquired about this before when I had an iPhone 4. I thought maybe it was due to the phone being old with an outdated iOS or the firmware on my Bluetooth. But, a few days ago I upgraded to a iPhone 6S Plus and it has the latest iOS 9.2.1. In the past I was able to hear guidance while I was on a phone call. I am able to do this with Google Maps & the iPhone Maps app with no problem. Did you change the app so it automatically mutes guidance during a phone call? This has caused me to miss several turns when Im driving while Im on a call and prefer to focus on the road. Would be nice if it was an option to have on/off for users. Also, give us the ablility to reorganize the drop-down menus. Every now and then "Traffic" alerts me to it when Im already in the fray!
No iPad Pro native resolution support yet!? Please, I want to use the 13" GPS in my car using full resolution :-)
The Apple Watch interface that was "enhanced" in this version is a big FAIL. Each time I have used the feature, it will offer the first and second turns, then directions no longer work on the watch. The 4 destinations offered on the watch or using 6s 3D Touch are the TOP listed favorites saved in the iPhone Navigon app. Favorites can be moved in the list after selecting "edit" on top right of screen. Navigon still refuses to offer a user guide for their feature filled app. As a consequence, many users will never access or understand many of the hidden features in the app (even after they inadvertently get the features to work correctly). Navigon app is a great navigation app. The watch interface is a FAIL and Navigon is a FAIL for refusing to offer a user guide.
I Really love the new update and big thanks for the company to respond to us when we ask for the ""search saved location feature."" I changed my review to 5 stars. Thank you. And keep up with good service
The Good: Traffic option works fast! (A purchased option worth having). Quarterly map updates. (Another purchased option). Dont need Internet so for bad cell areas it gets you there via GPS just like a Garmin device. Visuals are excellent when you come across complex and confusing road signs and lanes, it shows you where you need to be. Needs Improvement: Next turn or ramp guidance (on screen great but spoken names gives you limited info like take next turn to Plano but doesnt state the exit number half the time). Audio: It has Bluetooth or default. Theres no setting (like google maps) to have gps over phone speaker but lets calls go thru Bluetooth [for car hands free]. This is a major glitch because turn by turn over Bluetooth lags by couple seconds so on car hands free you miss first couple of words. So have to turn off Bluetooth entirely for reliable audio. Return to navigation: If a text or call comes up sometimes navigon doesnt return to its screen. This is less common with latest version but it still happens. On iPhone 6s phones change text message alerts to notify without pop up action needed to help. Overall a solid gps navigation app.
Just downloaded the latest update and can no longer get turn by turn directions. What happened?
Upgraded to the new version. Now, I cant see my turn by turn list. Please fix immediately.
This has been my go-to GPS app for many years. It was a real problem when they removed the Google search feature. Local search is gradually improving, but there are still many things it can’t find. Please improve search or return to Google. Route engine needs some optimization. I like Navigon because it doesnt need the internet to function and always gets you there. However, Google maps ALWAYS finds a faster route. My routine is to get the route in Google maps, then force Navigon to use that route (not always an easy thing to do). Last update also wrecked the turn-by-turn feature. Now only works intermittently.
